MANDATE

Mr. Tagoe’s mandate as Board Chairperson of the Credit Union typically includes the following responsibilities:

Leadership and Governance: The chairperson leads the board of directors, ensuring that the credit union adheres to its mission, vision, and values. They oversee the governance framework and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Board Meeting: The chairperson presides over board meetings, setting the agenda in collaboration with the Manager and other board members. They ensure that meetings are conducted efficiently and that all directors have the opportunity to contribute.

Strategic Direction: The chairperson is key in shaping the credit union’s strategic direction. They work with the board and management to set long-term goals and objectives.

Policy Oversight: The chairperson ensures that the board reviews and approves key policies that guide the credit union’s operations, including risk management, financial oversight, and member services.

Representation: The chairperson often serves as the primary representative of the board, communicating with members, stakeholders, and the public. They may also represent the credit union at industry events and in discussions with regulators.

Over the years, he has gained high-level knowledge and practical expertise in strategic management, financial management, partnership and company law, taxation, auditing and assurance, public sector accounting, financial reporting and analysis, human resource management, and business communication. His teaching career spans nearly three decades, during which he shaped minds and mentored many future leaders. His ability to blend technical financial knowledge with people-centered leadership has made him a respected figure in both educational and co-operative circles.


Experience in the Credit Union Movement

Mr. Tagoe’s journey in the credit union movement began in 1999. He served diligently on the Supervisory Committee from 2005 to 2011, followed by a four-year term as Board Secretary from 2012 to 2016. In October 2024, he assumed the position of Board Chairperson, a role he continues to hold with distinction. His leadership is characterized by stability, member engagement, and a focus on governance excellence.

Throughout his credit union career, he has chaired several high-impact committees, including the Policy Review Committee, AGM Planning Committee, and the ICU Planning Committee hosted by the Brong Ahafo Region in 2015. His insight and direction have contributed significantly to the union’s institutional growth and member satisfaction.

Mr. Tagoe holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Education and a Certificate in Teaching. He has further enriched his professional knowledge by attending numerous local and international workshops, seminars, and conferences, especially in the areas of credit union governance and co-operative leadership.
